Film reflections on WW2
(1)Papers deal with a REC(recursive image configuration and/or a recursive sound configuration) in relation to one of the <<WW2>> films studied during this term. You may choose a film studied from here:(Schindler’s list, The reader, Inglorious Basterds, The night porter, Hiroshima mon amour.)

2.(2p)Begin by doing a SEQ-by-SEQ breakdown of the whole film.Highlight the REC in bold in your SEQ-by-SEQ.

3.(1p)Present the REC with which you want to deal in a substantial introduction. Don’t use the ones studied in class(such as church in The reader, colors in Schindler’s, flashbacks in Night Porter, etc.)You may remember to re-write your introduction after the paper is finished,and not to repeat the intro in the conclusion.)For question of methods,I’ll upload the example for it, please must refer it and do it like same as it.

(4)(4-5p)Keep in mind that a REC isn’t a ”theme”:It’s either (a) A very <<concrete occurrence>> in several shots or sequence , or(b) a recursive use of the <<means of cinema>>.Begin by stating what your REC configuration is, how occurrence(OCC1,2,3,n)of your selected REC. This is no longer the time to present extended shot-by-shot description, but you should sustain, however, you acquired taste for shot study(frame composition, lighting, camera moves, soundtrack, editing,etc.)in relation to sequences and NPs.(show that you have benefited from the lessons of the first exercise.)
Try to establish categories or types of OCCs. Contrast CAT1,2,3,n.(or TYP a,b,c,n)/ Point to how your REC may combine with other RECs in the film.
(5).(2-3p) Point to frequency (FREQ) of OCCs, and give a sense of the RHYTHM of the OCCs. Are the various TYPs sometimes combined?Can you find a PRINCiple of combination? or perhaps a poetics in this recursivity? Show how your selected REC enables you to gain command of the film as a whole.
(6)(1-2p)In the conclusion,review(leisurely) your finding and present them in the light of our ”Woody” questions, techniques and concepts addressed this term. You must refer to the articles included in the example(e.g Baudrillard, Cohen, Eco, Lyotard, et al.), and include a bibliography at the end of your essay.
